Our office is right here in Trichy, serving this part of Tamil Nadu. It’s a hot city, as anyone who lives here knows, but we stay busy with all the travel talk. The office isn't anything spectacular to look at, just a place with counters and computers where we help people with their tickets. We deal with a lot of families going abroad or coming home for the holidays. It gets really crowded during the festival seasons. You can hear the phones ringing constantly and there’s always a bit of a wait if you come in during the peak hours. We’ve got a small team here. We know the flight schedules by heart now. Sometimes the systems go slow and we have to explain things to frustrated passengers, which isn't the fun part of the job. But we’ve been doing this for a long time. Trichy has a specific way about it, a bit slower than Chennai but still moving. We have our regulars who come in every few months to book for their kids. We don't use fancy scripts when we talk to people. It’s just plain Tamil or English, trying to figure out the best dates. The 620131 area code is where we belong. It’s just us, some old desks, and a lot of paper forms that still need filling out. We stay until the last customer is sorted, then we head home like everyone else. The fan in the corner usually makes a clicking sound, but we’re used to it.
