We operate out of Belgaum, specifically from House No 31 on the third lane of Shivaji Nagar. It’s actually Amit Sawant’s house where we have set up the Consortium For Dewats Dissemination Cdd Society. It’s a bit of a quiet residential area, which is nice for focusing on the water treatment systems we deal with. We spend a lot of time talking about decentralised wastewater and how to get these systems working in different spots. It’s not just office work for us. We are often out looking at pipes or checking how the filters are holding up. The neighborhood knows us as the folks who are always worried about water. Sometimes we have visitors coming by to ask how the DEWATS stuff works. We show them the diagrams and explain the biology behind it in plain words. It’s practical work. We don’t have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a few rooms with computers and a lot of technical manuals stacked on shelves. Belgaum is a decent place to be based because we can reach a lot of the surrounding areas easily from Shivaji Nagar. The rainy season keeps us pretty busy because that’s when people start noticing their drainage issues. We just try to provide some sensible solutions for recycling water without making it too expensive or hard to maintain. That is pretty much our daily routine here at the house where the work gets done.
