Sri Basaveshwara Kannada Medium School

Sri Basaveshwara Kannada Medium School is situated in Hukkeri, which is part of the Hukkeri Taluk in Belgaum. As the name says, it is a Kannada medium school, so all our daily work and teaching happen in the local language. The school is a simple building with several classrooms lined up. We have a small playground area where the kids run around during their lunch break. It gets quite noisy then, but it’s a good kind of noise. Most of our students come from the nearby villages and families who have lived in this part of Karnataka for generations. The teachers are mostly locals too. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment. We mostly use chalk and blackboards, and the students have their notebooks. We spend a lot of time on basic reading and writing. The office is just a small room with a couple of desks where we keep the attendance books and the school records. During the monsoon, the rain can be quite heavy here, and we sometimes have to deal with leaks or damp walls. But we just carry on with the lessons regardless. It is a very humble place where we just focus on the kids' basic education. There are no fancy extras here, just a regular school doing its job every day. Everyone knows everyone here, and that makes it a comfortable place to work and study.
