Friends Cement Store

Friends Cement Store is over on Raman Road in Talwandi Sabo. We are very close to the bus stand, which means there are always people around. You can hear the buses pulling in and out all day long. It’s a dusty job, working with cement. Every time we move a bag, a little bit of powder puffs out. By the time we go home, we all look a bit grey. We’ve been at this location for a while, and most of the locals know where to find us. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who do the heavy lifting. We don't have any fancy brochures or anything like that. If someone needs cement for a floor or a wall, they just come in and tell us how many bags. We load them up, and that’s that. Sometimes the rain causes trouble because we have to make sure the bags stay completely dry, or they turn into rocks. We spend a lot of time checking the tarps. It’s a simple business, really. We talk to the drivers who come from the bus stand and sometimes we get our tea from the little stall next door. Talwandi Sabo is a busy town, and we are just happy to be right here in the middle of it, doing our daily work on Raman Road and helping out with whatever small building jobs are happening.
