Mahashakti Tile & Sanitary

Running a shop in Barmer means dealing with a lot of sand and a lot of sun. Mahashakti Tile & Sanitary is located near the New KK Hotel, right opposite the Kendari Circle. It’s a prominent spot, but that doesn't stop the dust from settling on everything. We spend a good portion of every morning dusting off the tile displays and the sanitary ware so people can actually see the colors. It’s heavy work, moving crates of ceramic tiles and porcelain sinks around in the heat. We don’t have a big corporate philosophy; we just want to make sure the boxes we load into the trucks aren't cracked. People come in from all over the Tehsil, sometimes driving a long way to pick out something for their new bathroom or kitchen. We sit in the shop, have some tea, and talk to them about what they’re building. It’s a slow, steady process. The circle outside is always busy with tractors and local buses, which brings in a lot of noise. We’ve been part of the Barmer community for a while now, and we know most of the local contractors who come through. It’s a simple business of selling tiles and toilets, and we don't try to make it sound like anything more than that. It’s just us, the shop, and a lot of heavy lifting under the Rajasthan sun. We close up when the light fades and head back to our homes nearby.
