Kanika Marble

Our place, Kanika Marble, is in Gadra Road village. We are located in the Sheo taluka of Barmer district. It’s quite easy to find us because we are right near the Government Hospital. Working with marble in this part of Rajasthan is very common. We have various types of slabs lying around the warehouse. Some are polished and others are just raw stone. People from the village and nearby areas come here when they are putting in new floors or fixing up their kitchens. It’s a hot place, Barmer, so the stone stays cool to the touch inside the shade. We spend a lot of time moving pieces around so customers can see the patterns. Marble is heavy, so we have to be careful not to chip the edges. I run the place with a bit of help from my cousins. We don’t have a website or anything like that. If someone needs marble, they just walk in and talk to us. We’ve been here for several years now. The hospital nearby means there is always some activity on the road. We keep the shop open pretty late most days because people stop by after work. It’s a simple life. We sell the stone, help load it onto the tractor or truck, and that’s about it. There’s no need to make it sound more complicated than it is. We just provide marble to anyone who needs it for their home and family.
