Sweet Angel Jh. School

Sweet Angel Jh. School is located right opposite the sugar factory in the Nekpur area of Bareilly. Depending on which way the wind is blowing, you can often smell the factory while you are standing in our school yard. It is a junior high school, so we have younger kids here mostly from the surrounding neighborhood. The building is tucked away from the main road a bit, which is good because it keeps the children away from the heavy trucks. We have a few small rooms that we have painted in bright colors, though the paint is starting to peel in some corners. There isn't a huge playground, but the kids find enough space to play tag or sit and talk during their break. The teachers are mostly women from the local area who know the parents of the students. We have a small desk at the front where the principal sits, and a cupboard full of old books and registers. It gets a bit damp in the rainy season because we are in a lower part of town, but we just put down some mats and carry on. We don't have a lot of money for fancy things, so we make do with what we have. It is a loud, happy place most of the time, and we just try to keep the kids safe and learning their basic lessons every day. It is a simple school for local families.
