Sanjay Brick Industries

Out here in Vill Lakaicha, things move a bit slower than they do in the big city. Sanjay Brick Industries is set up at the Saroj Brick Field. It is a large open area where we do all the moulding and the firing of the bricks. If you come out toward Tehsil Nababgaj, you will see the tall chimney from a distance. We use a lot of local soil for the bricks we make. It is hard work, and the weather really dictates what we can do on any given day. When the monsoon hits, we have to stop most of the drying because the ground gets way too soft for the bricks. We spend those rainy days doing maintenance on the equipment or just waiting for the sun to come back out. There are quite a few of us working on the field. We don't have a big corporate setup or anything like that. It is just us, the clay, and the fire. We usually eat our lunch together under the shade of the trees near the edge of the property. The road leading up to the field is a bit bumpy, so the trucks have to take it slow when they are loaded down with weight. We sell to whoever comes by needing materials for their walls or houses. Sometimes we have a surplus, and other times we are just waiting for the next batch to finish cooling so we can load them up for customers.
