Shivam Pulses is right here on Gandhi Murti Road in Nai Abadi. We deal with different types of dals and lentils every single day. The air inside the shop usually smells like dried beans and earth. We spend a lot of time weighing bags and checking the quality of what comes in. It’s a noisy street sometimes with the traffic going towards the statue. We don’t have a fancy office. It’s just a counter, some scales, and a lot of sacks stacked against the walls. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, but the way we work stays the same. People come in looking for specific pulses for their cooking. We try to keep everything organized, though it gets messy when a new shipment arrives. It’s a basic business. We don't do big advertisements. Most of our customers are locals who have been buying from us for years. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The floors are concrete and the lighting is just some old tubes. It’s not a supermarket. It is just a place to get your staples. We open early and close when the sun goes down. Sometimes we sit on the sacks and talk to the regulars. It is honest work and it keeps the kitchen fires burning for our neighbors. We don't need much else besides a good crop and some steady customers. It's been that way for a long time now.
