Mahesh Textile Designer

The shop for Mahesh Textile Designer is on Cubbonpet Main Road, right at the 28th Cross, number 10. It’s a very tight area with lots of narrow lanes and people carrying rolls of cloth back and forth. You have to be careful where you walk because there’s always someone on a bicycle or a small cart moving through. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves filled with different patterns and fabrics. The walls are covered in sketches and little scraps of thread that seem to stick to everything. We don't have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of the time, the lighting is just okay, and we use a small lamp when we need to see the fine details of a design. It’s a bit noisy because of the traffic on the main road, but you get used to it after a few weeks. People come in looking for specific looks, and we just sit down and talk about what can be done with the material we have. It’s a messy process sometimes, with ink and pencils everywhere, but that’s how we work. The floor is old stone and stays cool even when it’s humid outside. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people usually just find us because they were walking by or someone told them where the 28th cross was. It’s just a small corner of Bangalore where we do our own thing.
