Down here on No 12, 3rd C Cross in Bangalore, things move pretty fast. I’m part of the M R Balaraj Co team. This city has grown so much since we first started out in this little corner of Karnataka. The traffic outside is always a headache, but once you get inside the gate, it’s a different world. We have a lot of stuff piled up because space is tight in this part of town. Everyone knows everyone on this street. We spend our mornings sorting through what needs to be delivered and what’s just arrived. It’s not a polished place. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the chairs are old. But it works for us. We don’t have fancy meetings or big presentations. Most decisions are made over a cup of tea in the afternoon. We just focus on the task at hand. If a customer calls, we answer. It’s simple. Sometimes we stay late when a big order comes in, and other times we close up a bit early if the rain is too heavy. It’s a bit of a scramble sometimes, keeping track of everything in 560046, but we manage. I’ve lived in Bangalore my whole life so I’m used to the pace. We just keep our heads down and do the work that comes our way every day. It is just the way we like to do things around here.
