Working in Bangalore usually means two things: traffic and good weather. We are a small software group based here in the city. Our office isn't in one of those massive tech parks; it’s just a simple rented space in a regular building. We have about ten desks squeezed into the main room. It gets a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time, but we don't mind much. We spend most of our hours writing code and fixing bugs that we probably made the day before. The walls are mostly bare, except for a few calendars and some old notes taped up near the light switches. We don't have a receptionist, so if someone knocks, whoever is closest to the door gets up to answer it. We mostly communicate through chat even though we are sitting right next to each other. It’s just easier that way when you’re focused. For lunch, we usually head out to the local mess or get something delivered if we are too busy. The fans in the office make a bit of a humming noise that you eventually stop noticing. We aren't doing anything world-changing; we just build software that works for the people who ask us to make it. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the honking from the street below. We’ve been doing this for a few years now and the rent just keeps going up every year. We hope to stay in Bangalore though, as it’s been our home for a long time.
