Kiran Foundry Works

Our workshop is located inside Crawford Market, specifically in the 4th Lane on L T Road, numbers 35 38. If you know the market, you know it is always crowded and very loud. Our place is even louder because of the work we do. We deal with foundry work, which means melting metal and pouring it into molds. It gets very hot in here, especially when the furnaces are running. Everything is covered in a layer of black dust, and our hands are rarely clean. It is heavy, physical work that leaves you tired by the end of the day. We have been in this spot for a long time. The space is quite small for a foundry, so we have to be very organized with our tools and materials. We make all sorts of metal parts, mostly for local builders or small factories. We don't have a fancy office or a place for people to sit. You just come into the lane and find us by the heat and the noise. We eat our lunch whenever there is a break in the pouring. It’s not a clean or easy job, but it is what we have always done. We know the other people working in the market, and we all just try to get through our day. We don't use much modern technology. We just rely on the old ways of casting metal that we learned years ago.
