K S Ganesh is tucked away in the Ashirwad Industrial Estate, specifically at number 477 in Basaveshwara Nagar. It’s an industrial area, so it’s mostly warehouses and small units like ours. We’ve been here at this spot for quite some time now. The neighbors are mostly doing the same kind of work, lots of metal sounds and engines running all day long. Inside our place, it’s mostly tools and some machines we’ve had for years. They still work fine even if they look a bit worn out and greasy. I usually get here early to open up the heavy iron shutters. The dust from the industrial estate gets everywhere, so keeping things perfectly clean is a losing battle we stopped fighting long ago. We handle whatever comes through the door. Sometimes it’s repair work for a machine, other times we are putting things together for other businesses in the city. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a visit unless you had real business here. There’s no lobby or air conditioning, just a big ceiling fan that moves the warm air around and makes a clicking noise. We know most of the guys in the other units, so we help each other out with tools or moving heavy stuff when someone's back is hurting. It's a tight-knit spot even if it looks a bit rough from the outside. That's just how life is in this part of town. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
