Sahar is a busy spot near the airport in Mumbai. Our office in Vasanth Nagar at number 14 is where we keep all the construction plans and the tools. It’s a bit of a messy place because we are always coming and going from different building sites. There are usually some boots near the door and a lot of yellow helmets on the racks. We handle the local construction jobs, mostly small stuff or renovations for people around here. The air is always a bit dusty because of all the work going on in the city. We have a large table in the middle of the room for looking at maps and blueprints. It’s not a corporate office with fancy carpets, just a concrete floor that’s easy to sweep. Sometimes the guys from the site come in to get their pay or to talk about a problem with the materials. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers trying to get sand or cement delivered on time. The traffic in Sahar can be a nightmare, so we try to get our trucks moving early in the morning. It’s hard work and the days are long, but it’s what we know how to do. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time and know most of the other builders around. It’s just a basic construction office doing honest work and trying to get things built right.
