Our shop is at Shivaji Nagar 84. It’s a small place, but it fits everything we need. We spend most of our time with measuring tapes and sketches. It’s not a big fancy studio, just a room with some good light where we can see what we’re doing. Designing things takes a lot of patience and sometimes we have to start over if something doesn't look right. The neighborhood is always moving, so there’s plenty of inspiration right outside the door. We’ve got rolls of material and different tools scattered around. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have a lot of work going on at once. We don't use any big complicated systems, just our eyes and our hands. Most of the people who come in are from around Shivaji Nagar. We know their names and what they like. It’s a very local way of doing business. We don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings, one of us just stops what we're doing and picks it up. Some days are long, especially when we’re trying to finish a specific design by the end of the day. The tea guy comes by twice a day and that’s usually when we take a break. It’s a simple life, just making things and trying to make sure they look okay. We like the quiet rhythm of the work here. It feels real and grounded and keeps us busy most of the week.
