Dutta Kannan Architects

We are Dutta Kannan Architects and you can find our office at 61 Matawadi on the Ishwarkerupa Main Road. We are part of the Ishwar Krupa Society in Indira Nagar. Our workspace is usually covered in blueprints, sketches, and samples of building materials like tiles or wood. It’s a small firm where we focus on designing buildings that actually work for the people living in them. We spend some of our time in the office drawing and the rest of the time out at construction sites getting dusty. It’s a lot of back and forth with contractors and trying to make sure the walls are going up in the right place. We don’t have a very formal office environment; it’s more about the work we are doing on the drawing boards. Being in Indira Nagar is nice because it’s a good community and we get to see a lot of different types of houses being built around us. We aren't interested in making things look fancy just for the sake of it. We just want the structures to be solid and for the space to be used well. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is coming up, drinking coffee and making sure all the measurements are correct. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we like the feeling of seeing a building finished that started as just a drawing on our table. It’s satisfying to see it all come together.
