If you know Chickpet, you know how crowded Sampige Road gets. We are right there at 123 and 124. It’s a tight space and the street outside is always full of people, carts, and those small delivery vans. We’ve been here long enough that the noise doesn't really bother us anymore. Every morning starts with opening the shutters and sweeping the front. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of stuff and a couple of stools for when the legs get tired. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept on the high shelves. It gets a bit dusty because of all the construction nearby, but we try to keep it decent. People come in and out all day asking for things. Sometimes it’s quiet for an hour, then five people walk in at once. We don't have any fancy signs or big lights. Just the name above the door and the address that everyone knows. Lunch is usually something quick brought from home or ordered from the small place around the corner. By the time evening rolls around, the street gets even busier with the lights coming on. We just keep our heads down and handle whatever comes through the door. It’s a simple life on a busy road. The fan on the ceiling wobbles but it keeps us cool enough. We just do our bit.
