Centre For Textile Garment Designing

Down here in Nelamangala, we spend our days at the Centre For Textile Garment Designing. It’s a lot of fabric, thread, and sketches lying around most of the time. We aren't a big factory or anything; it’s more about the actual design work. People around here know us as the place where you go to figure out how a piece of clothing should actually look and fit. The town is growing, but it still feels like a local spot. We have a few sewing machines that hum away in the background while we work. It’s not a perfectly clean studio—there are bits of thread everywhere—but that’s just how it goes when you’re making things. Some of us have been working with textiles for years, while others are just starting out. We don't really do the big fashion show thing. It’s more about the practical side of garments. Sometimes a design doesn't work out the first time, so we just unpick it and start over. It can be tedious, but seeing a finished sample makes it worth it. We get some sunlight through the windows in the afternoon, which helps with matching colors correctly. It’s a simple life here in Nelamangala, just focusing on making clothes that people can actually wear. We’re just a small team trying to do a good job with the fabric we have. There are always new patterns to try and different textures to feel, which keeps things interesting for us every single day. We enjoy the process of creating.
