A R Geetha Embroidery Works

If you come down to Vidyaranyapura, you will find us at number 8. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time. In here, it’s all about the needles and the thread. A R Geetha Embroidery Works isn’t a big factory with machines doing all the work. It’s more about the hands. We have hoops set up and piles of colorful silk and cotton lying around on every surface. Your eyes get tired after a few hours of looking at the small patterns, so we take plenty of breaks for coffee. The shop is filled with the sound of scissors cutting fabric and the occasional hum of a small sewing machine. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most people just bring their sarees or dress materials to us and tell us what they want. Sometimes they have a picture, and other times they just describe a flower or a border. We do our best to get it how they want it. It’s slow work and you can’t really rush it or the thread will tangle or the pattern will go crooked. The neighborhood is nice, and we know the families who live nearby. They’ve been coming to us for their special occasion clothes for a long time. We don't do any big advertising or anything. Word of mouth is usually enough to keep us busy from morning until we lock up in the evening.
