Working for National Mineral Development Corporation Limited out here in Donimalai Township is a bit different than being in a big city. Our office is at Type-D/12 Nb. If you haven't been to Bellary District, it is pretty quiet compared to Bangalore or somewhere like that. The township is where most of us live and work, so everything is close by. It’s a mining area, so you see a lot of red dust around and big trucks moving through the hills. Life here has a certain rhythm to it. We start early because the sun gets quite hot later in the afternoon. Most of the talk around the office is about the daily output or just regular local news. It’s not a corporate skyscraper vibe; it’s more like a community. We have been here for a long time, and the people working in the office are like neighbors. Sometimes the internet is slow or the mail takes an extra day to reach us, but we manage. We aren't trying to be something we're not. We just focus on the minerals and the work that needs doing out in the field. It’s a practical way to live. You get used to the sounds of the machinery in the distance. It is just a normal part of our day-to-day existence in this corner of Karnataka.
