Tusar Ranjan Padhi Building Material is located near the Kendriya Vidyalaya. Being close to a school means our mornings start with the sound of school buses and kids walking to class. Once the school bell rings and things settle down, we focus on the yard. We have piles of sand, bricks, and other materials out in the open. It’s a very physical business. We spend the day out in the sun or under a small tin roof, depending on what needs to be moved. The ground is usually uneven and covered in gravel. We don't have a proper office building, just a small cabin where we keep the records and escape the heat for a bit. It’s a very straightforward operation. When a customer comes in, we usually talk to them right there among the materials. You can smell the earth and the wet sand when we spray it down. We don’t have a website or any fancy advertisements. Most people just know us because we’ve been by the school for a long time. The work is hard on the hands and the back, but it’s satisfying to see the trucks leave full of materials for a new house. In the afternoons, when school lets out, the area gets busy again, so we try to get our big deliveries done before then. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living, and we like being a part of this little neighborhood.
