It’s a local neighborhood in Orissa where everyone knows everyone else. Metal work is what we do, and it’s a tough, hot job especially during the summer months. The office part of things is handled right here at the house. We have a mobile number, 09903539866, that rings pretty much all day long with people asking about prices or delivery times. It’s a bit of a dusty environment because of the nature of the business, but that’s just how it is. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing person. We just talk to people directly and try to get the metal where it needs to go. There’s a lot of manual record-keeping in big ledgers because sometimes the power goes out and we can’t use the computer. It’s a very local operation. You’ll see trucks coming and going nearby and plenty of noise. We’ve been here for quite some time now, and we’ve seen the area change, but our work remains the same. It’s about being honest and getting the work done with your hands. We don’t spend money on fancy furniture; we’d rather spend it on better tools or keeping the trucks running well. It’s just us doing what we know how to do for the town.
