Asian Footwear

You’ll find Asian Footwear over at Plot No. 303 in Sector 17 of the HIDC Industrial Estate here in Bahadurgarh. It’s a large plot, and we use every bit of it for our production and storage. The gates are usually open early because the workers start their shifts at seven. It’s a busy place with a lot of different departments, but it still feels like a local operation. We make all sorts of shoes, from basic slippers to more solid boots. The machines make a constant thumping sound that you can hear even from the street. We don't have a polished front office or anyone to greet you with a script. It’s more likely you’ll find us busy with a shipment or checking the quality of the latest batch. The floors are concrete and have some marks from all the heavy carts we push around. We’ve been in this sector for a while and know most of the other business owners nearby. Sometimes we share tools or help each other out when there’s a problem with the local power grid. It’s not a fancy corporate life. It’s more about meeting the daily targets and making sure the quality is decent. We keep our overheads low and just focus on the manufacturing part of things. When the whistle blows at the end of the day, everyone is tired but satisfied with what we’ve built. It is just about keeping the machines turning and the boxes moving out.
