The Mie Part A industrial area is where we spend our days at 388-389. Reliance Footwear Pvt Ltd. is just one of many units around here, but we’ve made this space our own. It’s a large area, which is good because we have a lot of footwear components coming in. The machines are the loudest part of the day. You get used to the rhythmic thumping after a while. We have a team that’s been together for a long time, so we don't have to talk much to know what needs doing. We just follow the orders as they come in. The floor is concrete and often covered in small scraps of material by the end of the shift. We clean it up every evening so we can start fresh the next morning. It’s hard work, especially when we have big shipments to get out. We don’t spend money on fancy brochures or big signs. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone who needs to find us knows where we are. Lunch is usually spent sitting outside if the weather is okay, just to get away from the noise of the factory floor. It’s an honest way to make a living. We aren’t trying to change the world; we are just making sure the shoes are put together right and sent to the right place. That is enough to keep us busy from morning till night.
