If you head over to No. 1459 M. I. E, you’ll see our place, Aerobok Shoe Pvt. Ltd. We are right in the middle of the industrial area, so it’s not the quietest place to work. There are always trucks moving and people hauling stuff around the estate. Inside our building, it’s mostly the smell of rubber and glue. We make shoes all day long, and it’s a process that involves a lot of different steps. From the soles to the laces, everything has to be put together just right. We’ve got a bunch of machines that have been with us for years, and they can be a bit temperamental sometimes if they aren't oiled regularly. The floor is usually covered in scraps and bits of material, but we try to sweep up at the end of every shift. Working at No. 1459 M. I. E means we are part of a big community of makers. We don't really have a fancy showroom or anything; it’s mostly just the production floor and some storage space for the finished boxes. Sometimes the heat in the summer makes the work a bit slower, but we just drink more tea and keep going. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just making solid shoes that people can wear every day. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. Most of our staff have been here a long time now.
