Ganga Brick Udhyog

If you find yourself wandering around Gali No. 7 in Arya Nagar, you will eventually run into Ganga Brick Udhyog. We are located near Meerut Road, and it is a pretty lively area with a lot of small shops and houses all packed together. The business is basically run out of the yard where we keep the materials. It is not the cleanest work, as you can imagine. Everything we touch ends up a bit brown or red from the earth we use. We have been in this spot for a while now and most of the neighbors know the sound of our equipment starting up in the morning. The process is simple but it takes a lot of patience. You have to get the mix of mud and water just right, or the bricks won't hold up. We spend a lot of time just watching the weather reports, hoping the rain stays away so the sun can do its job on the drying rows. In the summer, the heat is intense, but that is actually when we get the most done. Gali No. 7 can get a bit cramped when the delivery vehicles come through, so there is usually some maneuvering involved. It is just a regular local operation, nothing too organized or polished. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the kiln to reach the right temperature. It’s a lot of waiting followed by a lot of heavy lifting. It keeps us occupied from dawn till dusk.
