We set up this place in Shop No 9 at the Centre Point Building over on Jalna Road. People around Aurangabad know the Kranti Chowk area gets really busy during the day, so it is a good spot for us to be located. We started the Foundation For Development Of Skills And because we saw many folks around here who had the drive but maybe didn't have the specific technical know-how to get the jobs they actually wanted. It is not a big fancy office with glass walls, just a practical space where we work on various vocational things. The plumbing and the lights sometimes act up, but we keep the doors open and get on with it. We spend most of our days talking to young people and adults who come in looking to learn something new. It is mostly about getting your hands dirty and figuring out how things work in the real world. We aren't trying to be some giant institution. We just want to help people in the neighborhood get a bit better at what they do so they can support their families. If you walk past the shop, you will probably see us sitting with some paperwork or helping someone with a computer. The building has been there for a long time, and we have settled into our little corner of it. It gets a bit dusty with the traffic on Jalna Road, but that is just part of life in the city. We keep things pretty simple here. Just work and learning, day in and day out.
