We’ve been here at Plot No. 1507 in the Gidc Estate for a long time now. Most days it’s just about getting the dyes mixed and making sure the chemicals are stored right so they don't get ruined by the humidity. The heat inside the shed can get pretty bad during the afternoons, especially when we’re running several batches at once. We started out small and stayed that way mostly, focusing on what needs doing on the floor. People know us as the place that’s usually covered in some kind of color. There’s a lot of manual work involved, moving those heavy drums around and checking the consistency of the powders. It’s not fancy work, but it pays the bills and keeps the guys busy. Sometimes the supply of raw materials gets stuck somewhere on the highway, and those days are quiet, maybe too quiet. But usually, there is a lot of noise from the mixers and the fans trying to keep the air moving. We don’t spend much time in the office because there’s always something to look at in the production area. It’s dusty and the floors are stained, but that’s just how it is when you work with dye chem. We just get on with it, day after day, making sure the orders are ready to go out on the trucks that pull up at the gate every morning. It’s just how we live here and we don't expect it to change much.
