Montfort School

We are located at Post Box No 6. It is a bit of an old way to address a place, but that is how we have always done it. This school has been around for a long time now. The building is older, with high ceilings and heavy doors that creak a bit when the wind blows. We do not have any fancy signs out front. People in the area just know where we are. The teachers come in every morning, some on their old scooters and others walking from nearby. We have a small garden in the front that we try to keep neat, though the weeds usually win in the rainy season. Inside, the classrooms have wooden desks that have seen many years of students. There are scratches and marks on them, but they still hold up. We focus on the lessons in the books. We do not have much technology here, just the basics like chalkboards and paper. At lunchtime, you can hear the kids playing and shouting across the yard. It gets quite loud for an hour, then it goes back to being quiet. We handle the mail through that post box, and it’s usually just bills or official papers. It is a simple life here. We just try to make sure the children learn what they need to. Most of the families around here have sent their kids to us for generations. It feels like a small community that stays the same while the world outside changes every year.
