Ultratech Cement Ltd

We are out here in Bhogasamudram, which is part of the Tadipatri area in the Anantapur district. It’s a dry and dusty part of Andhra Pradesh, but this is where a lot of the heavy work for Ultratech happens. The address has Krishna Reddy’s name on it, and he’s been a fixture around here for a long time. This site is quite large and can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. There is always the sound of machinery and trucks idling in the background. We spend a lot of our day outdoors or in the main shed, making sure everything is moving according to the plan. The heat here can be brutal, so we drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade whenever there is a gap in the work. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have any air-conditioned offices or fancy furniture. It’s all about the cement bags and the transport schedules. We have a lot of workers coming in from the surrounding villages, and there is a real sense of community among the crew. We talk about the local news and the weather while we wait for the next shipment to be cleared. It’s a tough job in a harsh climate, but it’s what we know. We just focus on getting the trucks out on time and making sure the numbers in our books match the stock on the floor. It is just daily labor.
