A.P.S.R.T.C.,

My name is D. Ramakrishna and I am the system supervisor for A.P.S.R.T.C. here in Puttaparthy. We are part of the Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. My daily life involves making sure the computers and the ticketing systems don't fail when the buses are ready to leave. The bus station is a very loud and dusty place, especially in the summer heat. We have an old office with heavy metal fans that barely keep the air moving. It’s a government job, so there is always a lot of protocol and paperwork to follow. I’ve seen thousands of passengers pass through these gates over the years. Some are going to the temple and others are just heading home to their villages. We don't have any fancy technology; it’s mostly just keeping the old hardware running with whatever parts we can find. The tea stall right outside the gate makes the best ginger tea, which helps during the long afternoon shifts. It’s a lot of responsibility because if the system goes down, nobody gets their tickets. I just do my best to keep everything stable. The building has seen better days and the paint is peeling in the hallways, but it’s where we work. We are just a small part of the big state transport web, doing our bit in Puttaparthy every single day without fail.
