Rupa Engineering is located over in Ward No. 27, just a short walk from the Tarapur Railway Station. Being so close to the tracks means we hear the trains going by all day, which you just get used to after a week or two. We started this engineering spot in the Sscg area because it seemed like a practical place to set up shop. Most of our work involves regular mechanical stuff and repairs that people in the neighborhood need done. The workshop isn't much to look at from the outside, but we have the tools we need to get through the daily jobs. It gets a bit greasy on the benches, and there is always some piece of iron or a machine part sitting around waiting to be fixed. We don't have a big office or a receptionist; usually, whoever is free just wipes their hands on a rag and comes out to see what a customer needs. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to wait it out or use the backup, but that’s just life near the station. People stop by on their way from the train or just walk over from the nearby houses. We keep busy with whatever comes through the door, whether it is a small welding job or something bigger that takes a few days. It's just a small team of us working here. We've been at this spot for a while and don't plan on moving anywhere else anytime soon. It is a steady way to live.
