Living and working in the G.E.B. Colony at Wanakbori is a specific kind of life. Our spot is Iv-20/8, and since it’s a colony for the thermal power station, almost everyone here is connected to the plant in some way. Thasra is the local area, but we mostly stay within the Kheda district limits. Our engineering work is very much tied to the energy sector. It is not a glitzy job. It involves a lot of technical checks and making sure the machinery is behaving itself. The colony is quiet, with a lot of trees, which is a nice break from the heat of the plant. We don't have a fancy office with a receptionist. It is more of a "come in and sit down" kind of place. We handle the engineering side of things with a practical mindset. If something breaks, we look at how to fix it without spending too much time talking about it. The power plant is always there in the background, a massive presence that defines our day-to-day routine. We’ve been here for quite some time, and the people we work with are more like neighbors than clients. It’s a steady, honest way to make a living, and we don't feel the need to pretend to be anything more than local engineers doing their job as best as we can.
