Purti Tutorials is found on the first floor of the Azad Complex, which sits right on Loharka Road in Amritsar. Being on the first floor is nice because we get a bit of a breeze, and we are away from the direct dust of the road. There is a Gurudwara nearby that serves as a good landmark for parents who are coming here for the first time. The complex itself has a few different shops and offices, so it’s a fairly active place. When you walk up the stairs, our door is right there. We have several rooms partitioned off so different subjects can be taught at the same time. It’s a bit of a tight fit sometimes when the bigger batches arrive, but we make it work with the chairs we have. I usually spend my mornings getting the markers ready and making sure the water jugs are full. The lights in the hallway flicker sometimes, but we’ve gotten used to it. It’s a straightforward place with no extra decorations on the walls, just the stuff students need to look at. Loharka Road can get quite congested in the evenings, so we see a lot of students rushing in just as the sessions are about to start. We don’t have a fancy website or anything, just this physical space where we show up every day to do our work. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we do here in Amritsar to keep things going.
