Tuli S The Academy is tucked away inside Ghala Mala Chowk on Majitha Road. It is not the easiest place to find if you are new to Basant Nagar, but most locals know the lane opposite Gopal Mandir. Amritsar is always bustling, and this area is no different. Our building at number 5 is where we spend most of our daylight hours. The rooms are filled with the smell of old paper and the sound of pens scratching on notebooks. We have some wooden desks that have been around for years, and they still do the job fine. The walls have a few marks here and there from where chairs have bumped into them over time. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, which is nice because it keeps the noise down a little bit. We usually start the day by sweeping out the entrance and getting the registers ready. There is no big sign outside, just a small one that people sometimes miss if they are driving too fast. The lighting inside is decent, though we added some extra bulbs in the corner room last month. It feels like a lived-in space where students come to get their work done. We don't have a receptionist, so one of us usually just looks up from a desk when someone walks in. It is a very straightforward, no-nonsense kind of setup for studying. We keep a few stacks of extra worksheets in the corner for anyone who needs them.
