It is pretty quiet out here at Gujarat Cement Works D/31. We are based in the Kovaya area in Amreli, specifically at the 365541 pin code. Most of the days are just regular work days at Ultratech Cement Ltd-Gcw. The weather gets really hot during the summer, but that is just how it is in this part of Gujarat. You see the trucks coming in and going out all the time. It is a big site. People here know the address well because it’s a landmark in the district. We spend a lot of time on the grounds. Sometimes the dust gets on everything, but you get used to it after a while. The post office in Kovaya handles all our mail. Living and working around Amreli is simple enough. There isn't much city noise, just the sound of the machines and the wind blowing across the yard. It’s a long way from the main town center, so we mostly stay around the plant for our shifts. Most of us have been here for a while now. We know the roads leading up to D/31 like the back of our hands. It’s just a regular place where people come to do their jobs. Nothing fancy about it. Just a big industrial spot in the middle of the countryside. We keep the gates open during shift changes and that's when it gets busy. The rest of the time, it's just the steady sound of the operation going on.
