Our place is out in Jafarabad, right here in the 365540 area of Gujarat. This is the Jafrabad Cement Works for Ultratech Cement. It’s a coastal kind of area, so you can sometimes feel the salt in the air when the breeze is right. The sun beats down pretty hard on the plant most of the year. It’s a huge site and you can see the chimneys from a long way off. Most people in the town either work here or know someone who does. It’s a major part of the local life in Jafarabad. We don't spend much time in fancy offices. Most of the day is spent out on the floor or around the heavy machinery. It’s noisy and it’s dusty, but it’s real work. We start early in the morning before the heat gets too bad for everyone. The trucks lined up outside the gates are a common sight every single morning. You see the same faces every day. We’ve got a routine that hasn't changed much in years. It is a solid place to work. We don't have any polished corporate stuff here. Just the raw materials and the people who know how to handle them.
