The air out here is often dry and the sun can be quite brutal in the summer months. Our facility is a large space because the stuff we build takes up a lot of room. There are heavy cranes and a lot of steel beams everywhere you look. It’s a noisy place when the welding and cutting start up. We have a small office section where the drawings are kept, but most of the action is out on the floor. The guys wearing the overalls are the ones who really know how things work. We don't have a polished pitch for what we do. Usually, someone just brings us a requirement and we figure out the best way to put the metal together so it lasts. We’ve had the same tea guy coming by for years, and that’s a highlight of the afternoon. Sometimes the dust gets into everything, but we just wipe it off and keep going. It’s an honest way to earn a living, surrounded by the smell of oil and the sound of hammers. We don't try to make it sound like something it isn't. It’s just a machine shop in a busy industrial belt. Most of us have been here long enough to remember when the roads were unpaved.
