Manglam Marbles

Out here in Village Gandala, things move at a bit of a different pace than the big cities. Manglam Marbles is situated right near the main road in the Behror taluka, so we see a lot of trucks passing by all day and night. The air is often thick with dust from the stones, but that is just part of the job when you work with marble. Our yard is not a place for people who like to keep their clothes clean. We spend most of the day walking between the slabs and checking the stock under the hot sun. It is a tough business and sometimes the machines break down right when you need them most. We don’t have a fancy showroom with air conditioning; it is just a shed and a lot of heavy stone. My family has been around this area for a long time, and we know most of the drivers who stop by for a chat. Sometimes the rain makes the ground muddy and difficult to work on, but we just put on our boots and keep going. We do not use big words or have long meetings about strategies. We just look at the stone, see what is there, and help people get what they need for their houses. It is a simple way to spend the day, even if it is tiring by the time evening rolls around. We just hope the trucks arrive on time.
