Bal Bharati Public School

Bal Bharati Public School has been sitting out here in the Jodia Meo area of Chopanki for a while now. If you drive through Bhiwadi, you’ll find us easily enough near the industrial patches. The school building is pretty standard, with its classrooms and the playground where the kids run around during the break. Every morning, the buses roll in and the place gets noisy with students coming from all the nearby neighborhoods. We’ve got a staff that’s been around for years, mostly local people who know the families here. It’s not a fancy place with high-tech gadgets everywhere, but we have the basics like blackboards and desks that have seen a lot of use. The summers get really hot in this part of Rajasthan, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as possible for the children. Sometimes the dust from the road blows in, but that’s just how it is in Bhiwadi. We focus on the books and making sure the kids actually learn their lessons. There is always a lot of chatter in the hallways between classes, and the teachers are usually busy marking papers in the staff room. It’s a straightforward school where the goal is just to get through the syllabus and help the kids pass their exams. Nothing more, nothing less. We see the same faces every day and we've watched a lot of these kids grow up from small children to teenagers.
