Nature School

Nature School is located in the U.I.T area of Bhiwadi. It is an interesting spot because the city is so industrial, but we try to keep our little corner a bit more relaxed. We have been operating here for some time, and we have seen Bhiwadi grow quite a lot around us. Our school isn't some giant institution with glass walls. It’s a sturdy building where we teach kids the basics. We called it Nature School, but don't expect a forest; it's just our name and we have a few trees in the yard. The teachers here are local folks who know the struggle of living in a fast-growing town. We deal with the usual stuff like traffic outside and the occasional power cut. We just keep the lessons going by candlelight or wait for the generator to kick in. The kids don't seem to mind much. We spend a lot of time on the basics like math and writing. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to help the children in U.I.T get a fair start. Parents come by to talk about their kids, and we usually sit down in the office with a plastic chair and some water. It’s very informal. We want to be a reliable place for the families living in this part of Rajasthan. Bhiwadi is a place where people come for work, so we have families from all over moving in and out. This means we get new students quite often. We try to make them feel at home quickly. The U.I.T area is a bit crowded, so we have to be smart about our outdoor space. We have a small patch of grass that we try to keep green. Our desks are the sturdy kind because kids can be rough. We don't have a dedicated janitorial team; we all just pitch in.
