If you’re walking down by Hatiya Chauraha in Mutthi Ganj, you’ll find us right across from the Hatiya Golghar Police Chowki. That’s where we keep all the stuff for Dj Ashirwad Band & Floor System. We have a lot of different things shoved into our space at number 66, from the heavy brass instruments for the band to those light-up floor panels that people like to dance on these days. It gets pretty crowded in there when all the guys are around. Allahabad has so many festivals and weddings that we rarely have a quiet week. We’re usually busy checking the drums or making sure the floor system doesn't have any loose wires that might trip someone up. It’s not a fancy setup we’ve got, just a practical one where we can get to our equipment fast. When someone comes in to book us, we usually sit on the bench outside or just stand around the doorway and talk through what they want for their celebration. We do everything ourselves, from the loading to the setting up at the venue. Sometimes the traffic at the chauraha makes it hard to move the big speakers, so we have to plan our trips early in the day. It’s a lot of sweating and carrying heavy boxes, but seeing the whole street light up when the band starts playing makes it worth the effort. We’ve been at this spot for years and know most people around here.
