Sundar Aqua Agro Farm Llp is located at Joyanta Barman’s place in the village of Balasundarfalakata, which is up in the Jalpaiguri district. We do a mix of things here, focusing on both the water and the land. In this part of North Bengal, the weather can be quite damp, which is good for our ponds and our crops. Our office is a simple setup at Joyanta’s house. It’s not fancy at all, just a place to keep the logbooks and meet with people. We spend most of our time outdoors checking on the fish or looking at the fields. You can usually find us with our boots on, dealing with whatever the day throws at us. Jalpaiguri is a beautiful place, but the work is hard and it never really stops. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the land and the water well. We talk to the other villagers about their yields and share what we’ve learned. It’s a very direct way of doing business. No middleman, no corporate talk. We have a few old chairs and a desk that’s seen better days, but it serves its purpose. If you come by, you’ll probably find us mid-conversation about the water levels or the price of feed. It’s just how life goes in Falakata. We are just trying to make a living from what the earth provides, day by day.
