Jaygaon Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is located right here in Jaigaon village, over in the Koregaon area. Shankar Narayan Shinde’s house is where we usually get together to sort things out. We’re a bunch of local farmers who felt that working together was better than struggling on our own. In a place like Jaigaon, everyone knows everyone, so it made sense to start this company. We grow various crops depending on the time of year and what the weather allows. It's a lot of early mornings and long days under the sun. We don't have fancy equipment for everything, so a lot of it is still done the old way. Having this producer company helps us get organized when it comes to selling what we grow. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We’re just people who live and work in this community. Sometimes things go well, and sometimes the harvest is thin, but we keep at it. We meet up at House No. 491 to talk about what needs to be done next. It’s not a corporate office; it’s just a place where we make decisions about our work. We focus on the practical side of farming, like getting the right supplies and making sure the soil is ready. It's just our way of life here in the village and we take it one day at a time.
