Sharma Metal Industries

Sharma Metal Industries is tucked away in Gali Number 5 over in the Jawlapuri Peeli Kothi Compound. It’s right near the Nav Durga Mandir, so you can often hear the bells from the temple while we’re working. The workshop is a loud place, to be honest. We’ve got machines running and the sound of metal being moved around all day long. It’s a bit dark inside the compound, but we have big lights over the work areas to see what we are doing. There’s always a layer of metal dust on the floor no matter how much we sweep it up. We started here years ago and haven't really moved much. The lane is quite narrow, so getting deliveries in and out can be a bit of a struggle with the trucks. We mostly focus on getting the orders finished on time for our customers. It’s hard work and your hands are always dirty by the end of the shift. We don’t have a fancy office or a showroom. If someone wants to see what we do, they just come onto the shop floor and look at the projects we’re currently handling. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We know all the other shop owners in the compound, and we usually take our tea breaks together outside in the alley when it’s not too hot. It’s a steady life here in Jawlapuri and we just keep the machines running.
