Abad Fisheries Pvt Ltd is located down at 9/436 in the Aroor area of Alappuzha district. Being so close to the water, there is always a bit of a salty breeze in the air. It is a busy place because the fish business does not really stop. The trucks are coming and going at all hours, especially early in the morning when the fresh catch arrives. Our floors are almost always wet, so we all wear rubber boots while we work. It is a big facility with a lot of different sections for cleaning and packing. You can hear the ice machines running in the background constantly. It is a cold environment inside to keep everything fresh, which is a big change from the humidity outside. We have got a lot of staff who have been with us for years, coming in from all over the Alappuzha district. There is not much time for sitting around. We have a small break room where we eat lunch, but otherwise, everyone is on the move. The building itself is quite large and stands out in the Aroor area. We do not do a lot of talking during the rush; we just focus on getting the crates moved and the fish processed. It is a tough, physical job, and we all go home tired at the end of the shift. It is just how things have been done here for as long as anyone can remember.
