Roop Watch is located in Sitaram Bazar on Station Road. Since we are so close to the station, we get a lot of people who are just passing through. They might have a broken buckle or their watch stopped right before their train was supposed to leave. It’s a hectic place to have a shop, but I like the energy of Station Road. There is always someone moving, someone shouting for a rickshaw, or the sound of the train whistles in the distance. My shop is tucked away between a tea stall and a clothing store. It’s not very big, but I have enough space for my tools and a few chairs for people to sit while they wait. I started this because I was always curious about how things worked. I used to take apart everything when I was a kid. Now I do it for a living. Sitaram Bazar is an old part of town, and the buildings have a lot of character. My shop has high ceilings and a floor that’s a bit uneven. I don’t mind. It’s where I spend most of my life. I see all kinds of watches—some very fancy and some that are held together with tape. I try to help everyone who walks through the door. It’s a simple business, really. We just fix what is broken and send people on their way to catch their next train.
