Arpit Rice Mill is located at 20 New Lal Bagh, right across from the Polo Ground. It’s an interesting spot because you have the open space of the ground on one side and our busy mill on the other. We’ve been working out of this location for quite a while. The mill itself is a big structure where we process the paddy. We spend our days watching the machines and making sure the rice is coming out clean. It’s a lot of manual labor. We have to haul sacks and load them onto trucks that park out front. Sometimes the traffic by the Polo Ground makes things a bit slow, but we manage. We don’t have a fancy office. Most of the time, we are on the floor checking the grains. The smell of raw rice is everywhere here. We have a small crew and we all know each other well. We don't use much big corporate talk. We just say what needs to be done and do it. Working near New Lal Bagh is nice because it’s a known part of town. People don't have trouble finding us. We keep our equipment running as best as we can. It’s a steady business and it keeps us busy from morning till night. We just try to get the work finished so we can go home. There's always more paddy waiting for us.
