Afsana Marble Handicraft

Our workshop and shop are located at the Sarana Chauraha in Kishangarh. This area is very famous for stone, so it makes a lot of sense for us to be set up here. We work with marble, making different types of handicrafts and small items that people like to keep in their homes or give as gifts. It is a dusty place because of all the carving and sanding we do, but that is just part of the job. We have blocks of marble sitting around and half-finished pieces resting on the tables. It is not a fancy showroom with polished floors; it is more of a place where things are actually made by hand. You will hear the sound of tools hitting stone for most of the day. We have some finished items on the shelves for people to look at if they stop by the crossroads. Some of the pieces are small like plates or bowls, and others are a bit bigger and heavier. It is a lot of manual work and our hands are usually covered in white dust by the time evening comes around. We have been doing this for a while, learning how to handle the marble without breaking it. It is a tough material, but you can make some nice things if you have enough patience. People from the city and travelers passing through the chauraha often stop to see what we are working on. We do not use big machines.
